Vegan Pizza Recipe:
Ingredients:
For the Whole Wheat Pizza Dough:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
For the Toppings:
- 1 cup tomato sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 1/2 cups vegan cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup olives (sliced)
- 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 bell pepper (sliced)
- Optional: fresh basil, oregano, or red pepper flakes for seasoning
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and add yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- Roll Out the Dough:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza peel (if using a pizza stone).
- Assemble the Pizza:
- Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the crust. Sprinkle with vegan cheese, then add olives, mushrooms, and bell peppers. If desired, add fresh herbs or spices.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven, slice, and enjoy hot!
