Crunchy Coconut Oil Popcorn

Description: Simple and healthy, this popcorn is popped in coconut oil and lightly seasoned with salt, making it a delicious snack option. Whether enjoyed during movie nights or as a midday treat, this crunchy, airy snack is naturally vegan and can be customized with your favorite seasonings for added flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil (or any neutral oil)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Oil:
    • In a large pot with a lid, heat the coconut oil over medium heat. Add a few popcorn kernels to the pot to test if the oil is hot enough. When they pop, the oil is ready.
  2. Pop the Popcorn:
    • Once the test kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels in an even layer to the pot. Cover with the lid, leaving it slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.
    • Shake the pot gently every few seconds to prevent the popcorn from burning.
  3. Listen for Popping:
    • Continue popping until the popping slows down to about 2-3 seconds between pops. Remove the pot from heat.
  4. Season the Popcorn:
    • Carefully transfer the popped popcorn to a large bowl. Sprinkle with salt to taste and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Serve:
    • Enjoy the popcorn warm as a healthy snack, or store in an airtight container for later.
